Job description
Looking to hire an intern to work alongside farm/greenhouse/nursery project manager/ school gardens/ North Alabama Agriplex and their team. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to assisting with the planting, maintaining and harvesting of crops, helping with various business projects and/or farm animal care tasks.
Job location depends on how we will be able to match applicants and farmers.
General qualifications
Weekend and evening work may be useful to the employer.
Must be able to work individually as well as with others.
Must be able to follow instructions with minimal to no supervision.
Experience using tools and farm equipment is helpful.
Must be willing and able to do outdoor, manual labor.
Knowledge of planting, harvesting and related processes is a plus.
Knowledge or experience with building/construction and/or equipment repair is a plus.
Work Environment Physical Demands
intern may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
Frequently required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Personal safety protective equipment will be provided if needed.
Must be willing to tolerate common outdoor allergens, pollen, manure, dust, odors, etc.
Must make employer aware of any severe allergies and discuss protocols if exposed/stung (especially bee/wasp allergies).
Pay
Salary: Up to$15 per hour on a contract basis (employee responsible to pay all applicable taxes)
